The Baale-elect of Ijagemo in Iba Local Council Area LCDA of Lagos State, Chief Abdul  Hakeem Babatunde Balogun, has warned residents of the community to take necessary  precaution to prevent an outbreak of cholera in the area.

In a recent notice he sent to the residents, Balogun reminded them that every community  should endeavour to prevent cholera in the town while noting that the disease was  spreading like wildfire in about 11 states in Nigeria.

Balogun advised residents who had turned open spaces into toilets where they defecate to  desist from doing so in the overall interest of the community.

“I appeal to landlords and tenants to put an end to this uncivilised behaviour of  throwing faeces in any available space. This is an open invitation to an outbreak of  cholera,” Balogun said in the notice he printed and circulated in the community.

He counselled that flies from the faeces thrown into nearby bushes will eventually  transfer the human waste into the food residents wanted to eat on their dinning tables.

Balogun also advised Ijagemo residents to maintain high standard of hygiene to ensure a  healthy living and complement government’s efforts at preventing the outbreak of the  killer scourge.

He urged landlords and residents to keep their environment clean because their good  health was of concern to him.
