The chairman of Ojuelegba branch of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, RTEAN, Alhaji Lamidi Yusuf, was recently attacked by hoodlums at his Surulere residence in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria,
Narrating his ordeal to P.M.NEWS, Yusuf said he was standing in front of his house at 18, Banire Street, Lawanson, Surulere, when some hoodlums numbering about 14 arrived on motorbikes, stormed his residence and attacked him. After they had dealt him machete cuts all over his body, they left him for dead in a pool of blood.
“After they hacked me with their machetes, they thought I was dead but some of my neighbours rushed me to Randle General Hospital, Surulere. When the hoodlums learnt that I was still alive, they came again to attack me in the hospital and scattered the hospital, causing confusion until the doctors alerted policemen from Itire Division, who quickly responded and moved me to Mushin General Hospital,†he said.
He added that when he was discharged and got back home, with a bad leg and a lot of scars on his body, the hoodlum are still bent on killing him and he has written a petition with reference number CB7000/X/Adm/Vol.25/80 to both the Lagos State Commissioner of Police and the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FSARS, Alagbon and they did a wonderful job by investigating the matter and have been able to arrest four of them who were presently being detained at Alagbon.
Yusuf urged the police not to relent in their efforts to get to the bottom of the matter, so that they can arrest the main culprits, who he said are still at large.
“I am therefore using this medium to appeal to the deputy Inspector General of Police to arrest the major culprits, because my life is still under threat before they send me to an early grave,†he stated.
