Considering the giant stride recorded by Lagos Waste Management Authority, LAWMA, in the past years in keeping Lagos clean, the Realcross Interactional, a non-government organization has concluded plans to bestow Best Environmental Agency award on LAWMA.
The event will take place on Thursday, 7 December as part of the maiden edition of Real Awards 2010 with the theme, “Building A Better Nigeriaâ€.
This was disclosed by the coordinator of the organization, Barrister Titilayo Olagundoye, while speaking with newsmen about the event.
She explained that “Realcross has watched with keen interest the activities of all environment agencies across the 36 states of the federation and got to know that LAWMA stands out compared to all of them.â€
She pointed out that, apart from cleaning Lagos State, several programmes have been carried out by LAWMA. These include capacity building programme, incentives to encourage their staff, the highway managers, enlightment programme to sensitize the masses on the need to keep their environment clean so as to have healthy life, etc.
She maintained that all these and other criteria informed the decision of Realcross to give the award to LAWMA.
The event would take place at Ikorodu Town Hall with Sir Tunde Gomez as the chairman, Hon Agunbiade as the chief speaker while Oba Oyefusi Oguntade II, Ayangburen of Ikorodu will be the father of the day.
