The Coker/Aguda Local Council Development Area of Lagos State joined millions of  Nigerians in celebrating Golden Jubilee anniversary by showing a documentary on the  history of Nigeria from pre-independence to date to school children.

Speaking at the occasion, the chairman of the council, Hon. Aliu Kazeem stated that  Nigeria’s freedom from the colonialists on 1 October, 1960 was because our founding  fathers fought tirelessly for the independence of this great nation and this present  generation should continue to uphold their legacies.

“While I salute the tireless efforts of our elder statesmen and the martyrs who have  contributed immensely in upholding the unity of our dear country, the likes of Sir  Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe, I want to add that a  man born 50 years ago has really come of age and must have experienced the good bad and  the ugly side of life, likewise Nigeria.”
