Hon. Wasiu Eshinlokun, Chairman, Lagos Island Local Government, Lagos State, South West Nigeria, has commended teachers in public schools in the state for their steadfastness and dedication to duty.
Sanni gave this commendation at this year’s edition of ‘My Complete Student’, a programme initiated by the local. The programme is aimed at supplying all educational materials to pupils of public schools in the council area.
He charged the teachers to assist in restoring the traditional role of the school as institutions of social control by teaching and instilling discipline, moral values and ethics in the pupils.
Mr. Moshood Mayegun, Education Secretary, Lagos Island Local Government Authority, praised the chairman for the initiative which he said has led to an increase in pupil enrolment in primary schools in the council.
He appealed to the chairman and well-meaning Lagosians to donate generously towards the Education Week which will hold in November.
During the programme, over 10,000 pupils of primary schools and junior secondary schools in the council area were given a pack which contains two school uniforms, sandals, socks, note books, text books and other educational materials.
Schools in the area were also given recreational materials such as swings, merry-go-round and slides as well as Spelling Bee dictionaries.
Sanni also announced donation of two tricycles as well as communication gadgets to Area ‘A’ Lion Building which was received by Mr. Tajudeen Bakare, a Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP.
