Be Your Brothers Keepers, Lions Club Urges Privileged Nigerians

The wealthy and the privileged have been enjoined to assist the Lions Club International,  more importantly, the Lagos Model Lions, Club and other viable NGOs in their service to  improve the lot of all, especially the underprivileged.

Members of the political class were also charged to look inwards, formulate and implement  humane policies that would add meaning to the lives of majority of Nigerians.

The remarks were made by the President, Lagos Model Lions Club, District 404 B, Lions  International, Lion Phina Awa, at the presentation of household items to Modupe Cole Home  for the Physically Challenged, Akoka, Yaba, Lagos.

The home, which was founded in 1960 by late Mrs. Modupe Cole has a capacity for 275  children with 95 teaching and non-teaching staff on its pay-roll. Vital vocational  training programmes are offered the children, to make them worthy contributors to the  economy of the nation.

While acknowledging the portraits designed by Miss Toma Unu, an inmate and a naturally  gifted artist who draws portraits with her toes, Lion Phina Awa commended the home for  encouraging such talent, among others.

She, on behalf of her club, assured the home of their continued moral, financial and  spiritual support to make life better for them.
