The lawmaker representing Lagos Island Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Wahab Olawale Alawiye-King, has challenged Nigerian leaders to always focus on ways that would help improve the development aspirations of the citizens.
In an anniversary message, Alawiye-King called on Nigerians to consider the period of celebrating the nation’s independence anniversary as a special moment of sober reflection rather than a time to engage in unnecessary spending, the lawmaker noted that the moment should also be used for stock taking as well as one during which concerted effort is made at deepening democracy.
While noting that the political class may have contributed to the rot in the society, Alawiye-King, who is seeking reelection, urged Nigerians to use the period to make resolutions to contribute their quota to building a nation that all would be proud of, emphasising that nation building is not a job for a select few, adding that the will of the people should always prevail in the choice of a candidate to represent them at any level.
