Having achieved praise in South Africa and on the international scene, award winning songbird, Melanie Scholtz, will perform live at the MUSON Centre, Lagos, on Wednesday, 6 October, 2010.
The General Manager of MUSON, Mrs. Aboaba, described Melanie as a fantastic singer that Nigerians can tap a lot from musically.
She added that another South African music group, The Buskaid Soweto String Project (BSSP), will also perform at the concert.
Melanie was the winner of the Old Mutual Jazz Encounters competition in 2002 as Best Jazz Vocalist and she performed the South African national anthem at the President’s Cup in 2003.
She started singing at an early age and coming from a musical family, she was exposed to different kinds of music as she grew up and at age 17, she enrolled at the Opera School at the University of Cape Town, where she graduated in 2001.
