Lagos State Pools Agents Association, LASPAA, has again called on the Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola to expedite action on the proposal sent to his office.
President of the association, Major Sammy Ogunyebo (retd.) said it was high time Governor Fashola came to the aid of the association as the proposal which was sent to his office and redirected to the office of the Special Adviser on Taxation and Revenue, Mr. Ade Ipaye since 21 June, 2010 has not seen the light of day. Sammy said delay is dangerous as the pools business in Lagos State is facing a serious crisis that need urgent government’s attention.
“We want Fashola to help direct his aide, Mr. Ipaye, on whose table our proposal is now, to act on it before things get out of hand. We want the governor to use his good office to prevail on him to do something meaningful on our proposal. What the promoters are paying on their coupon is not only inconsistent but it is illegal,†Sammy said.
The agents association, however, called on his members spread across the state to exercise patience as he believes that very soon something concrete will be done.
“I know that the administration of Fashola will do something on our proposal very soon. I will only advise my agents to exercise patience. The delay maybe due to the usual bureaucracy in the civil service. I have the assurance that the Lagos State government will definitely come out with a policy to sanitize pools business. They should not lose hope. “I’m very sad that the promises I made with my members when I was taking the oath of office a year ago, I have not fulfilled none of them. This is because of the attitude of the government to LASPAA’s proposal.
