The bid for a second term in office of Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola has received a boost as leaders and eminent personalities of Lagos Island recently endorsed his candidature.
The Governor has begun his campaign with his posters flooding the entire state. He is seeking re-election under the Action Congress of Nigeria
The leaders say their resolve to support him was based on the distinguished performance of the governor, which according to them, are unrivalled
They argued that he has been able to transform the state to an enviable height since assumption of office.
The decision, taken at a meeting on Lagos Island recently, had in attendance some members of the State Executive Council and party leaders representing the local government at the state and national levels.
Sources at the meeting also said the supporters were happy with the governor’s policies which had resulted in infrastructure development, job creation, improved security of lives and properties, enhanced quality of education, sports development, positive engagement of the youths, fair and equitable distribution of developmental projects in the state.
They added that Fashola had given hope to the present generation that things would be better given the right leadership.
The motion for the support and endorsement of Fashola’s candidacy for the second term was moved by Prince Ademola Adeniji-Adele and seconded by Alhaji Mutiu Are. The motion was unanimously supported by all the 28 party leaders in attendance, a source at the meeting said.
Other party and community leaders present at the meeting included Hon Oyinlomo Danmole, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Central Business Districts, who is also aspiring to contest for the Senate in Lagos Central Senatorial District, Dr Adedolapo Badru and Special Adviser Youth and Social Development and Mr. Mutiu Are, a leader of the party in the area.
The meeting further resolved to work with other like minds within and outside the Lagos Island for the emergence of Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola as candidate of the party and his re-election as the Governor of the State for a second term.
