The police at Alagbon recently quizzed the Oba of Ojokoro land, Oba Rilwan Oluwalambe Taiwo, JP.
The Oba, who was invited by the police allegedly spent some explaining to the police what he knows about the land dispute in Abule Egba area of Lagos State, Nigeria.
Speaking with newsmen on the matter, a senior police source who craved anonymity said the police decided to invite the monarch for questioning following a petition sent to the IGP by one Otunba Kehinde Adeosu over an alleged threat to his life.
“Based on the petition sent to the IGP by one Chief Gafaar Arowolo and 5 other members of the Olaroku family that the Oba has threatened to eliminate them, we invited the Oba to hear his own side of the story so that we can find a permanent solution to the crisis before it gets out of hand.â€
Crime Watch gathered that trouble started when the Olaroku Family won the legal battle against the Olaroku Oriadare Family after a protracted legal battle over the land in suit no. ID/1313/98 in a judgement delivered on the 2 June, 2009.
Speaking with Crime Watch, Chief Arowolo said that the forefathers of Olaroku were the first settlers in Abule Egba, part of Orile Agege, Fagba Iju, up to Orimolade in Ojokoro.
The principal agent to the Olaroku family Otunba Kehinde Adeosu has also vowed to protect the property, since it has been entrusted to him.
When Crime Watch visited Oba Rilwan Oluwalambe in his palace to get his own side of the story he said that Chief Arowolo and some other people wrote a petition against him to the Inspector General of Police which led to him being invited to the Force Headquarters at Alagbon.
“Chief Gafaar Arowolo and some other people wrote a petition to the IGP against me and when the police invited me, I went there to write my own statement. Then the police wanted to detain my younger brother who had accompanied me there, and I said no because his name was not mentioned in the petition. But I later bailed him and we came home together the same day,†the monarch explained.
