In order to avoid a situation where some of its members are disenfranchised during elections, residents of Agiliti community in Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area, Lagos State, South West Nigeria, have appealed to Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC for additional wards and polling units.
In a letter to LASIEC, the community made up of five Community Development Associations, Agiliti Central, Agiliti Estate, Oko Ovava, Agiliti II and Ola-Oluwa, stated that the additional wards if created would enbale them to have their representatives at the local government level while the additional polling units would enable all their members to exercise theior voting rights.
The letter which was signed by all the CDA chairmen and secretaries stated that with the growing population of the community, LASIEC should consider their demand.
They urged the commission to visit the community to verify their claims.
