The Chairman, Mushin Local Government Council, Lagos State, Nigeria, Mr. Olatunde  Babatunde Adepitan, has attributed the mass failure in the General Certificate of  Education examinations to lack of necessary prerequisites and techniques to tackle  questions.

Speaking during the inspection of the free GCE coaching classes for indegent students in  Mushin Local Government and its environs, the council boss enjoined the candidates to  braze-up to the examination task.

Adepitan advised the students that the provision of free GCE forms for them was not a  guarantee for their success in the ongoing examination, saying that that was why seasonal  teachers were organised for their free coaching classes.

The local government chairman who was a teacher for 27 years before venturing into  politics admonished the students in the three centres organised by the council to  concentrate on the techniques, read their books and avoid cheating.

“I charge you to face the examination with determination, confidence and maturity. Youths  of today are the leaders of tomorrow, we are not doing anything extra. We shall pay the  teachers from tax payers money.

“Our determination is to rid the society of illiterates, touts and undesirable elements,”  Adepitan said.
