A veteran journalist and former editor of the defunct Post Express on Sunday, Mr. MuyiwaÂ Akintunde marked his 50th birthday on Sunday with a visit to the SOS Children Village,Â Isolo, Lagos, Nigeria.
To commemorate his golden jubilee, Akintunde donated gift items worth thousands of nairaÂ to the orphanage.
Speaking during the donation, the former editor said the donation was part of hisÂ contribution to remember the less-privileged in the society and to show them that theyÂ are not forgotten.
He added that he also decided to donate the gift items to express his heart-feltÂ gratitude to God who has preserved him and for his achievement over the years as aÂ journalist.
Akintunde advised the inmates not to feel abandoned or inferior to others in the societyÂ which he said belong to all of us.
Receiving the items, one of the supervisors at the SOS Children Village, Bunmi OnifadeÂ thanked Akintunde for remembering the inmates. She promised the items will be usedÂ judiciously.
She commended donours who had visited the home recently and urged other Nigerians toÂ emulate them so that the inmates will live a better life.
