A veteran journalist and former editor of the defunct Post Express on Sunday, Mr. Muyiwa Akintunde marked his 50th birthday on Sunday with a visit to the SOS Children Village, Isolo, Lagos, Nigeria.
To commemorate his golden jubilee, Akintunde donated gift items worth thousands of naira to the orphanage.
Speaking during the donation, the former editor said the donation was part of his contribution to remember the less-privileged in the society and to show them that they are not forgotten.
He added that he also decided to donate the gift items to express his heart-felt gratitude to God who has preserved him and for his achievement over the years as a journalist.
Akintunde advised the inmates not to feel abandoned or inferior to others in the society which he said belong to all of us.
Receiving the items, one of the supervisors at the SOS Children Village, Bunmi Onifade thanked Akintunde for remembering the inmates. She promised the items will be used judiciously.
She commended donours who had visited the home recently and urged other Nigerians to emulate them so that the inmates will live a better life.
