Riding on the crest of its successful debut last year, another round of gripping oratory awaits viewers as the second edition of the highly educative reality show, The Debaters, hit TV screens across the nation.
This year’s show, which promises to be more engaging, will start to air from 25 September and promises an entertaining adventure with the very cerebral contestants.
The show’s 14 contestants, an equal mix of seven young men and ladies, emerged from grueling auditions held countrywide and they were unveiled on Tuesday, 14 September, at the Civic Centre in Lagos. The ‘talkmates’ are now settling into the ‘talk academy’ where they will be housed and mentored over the 13-week duration of the reality show.
Mo Abudu, head of Inspire Africa, organisers of the weekly televised debates, says they intend to groom the youthful contestants to drive Nigeria’s much-desired development.
“The Debaters will reiterate its message of oratory as the power to change and prove like Barrack Obama has done so well that good things can come out Africa,†remarked Abudu.
The Debaters show has the GT Bank group as its main sponsor and the ultimate winner of the contest goes home with a tasteful Toyota Rav4 car, N3.5 million cash and a VEDA laptop, while the first and second runners-up get N1 million and N500,000
