The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC, in conjunction with Voxxon King Consult at the weekend organised a workshop for election staff in preparation for next Saturday’s by-election into the councillorship seats of Ward ‘A’ Olowogbowo of Lagos Island LGA and Ward ‘B’ Erikorodo of Ikorodu North LCDA.
The theme of the workshop was Best Practices In Managing Election Materials. The workshop took place at the LASIEC corporate office on 2, Birrel Avenue, Sabo, Yaba, Lagos.
The LASIEC commissioner in charge of Lagos central, Mr. Mabinuori Olalekan said: “We hope you will make use of today’s workshop as you will agree with me that veritable records have shown that election personnel could make or mar elections. So, therefore, the effectiveness of election staff becomes important.â€
Also speaking in the same vein, the secretary to the commissioner, Mr. A.T. Jeje, said the workshop was convened at the instance of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC, in conjunction with Voxxon King Consult to provide a veritable platform of impacting best practices in electoral management into carefully selected officials saddled with responsibilities of election duties at the next weekend by-election into the councillorship seats.
On the duties of a supervisory presiding officer, SPO, the head of logistics, INEC, Lagos, Mr. Ademola Salau, said: “The supervisory presiding officer is to supervise a number of polling stations as may be prescribed by the commissioner, etc.â€
Those in attendance include Alhaji Suleiman, a consultant to LASIEC and Mr. Muyiwa Yusuf.
