As this year’s Ramadan fasting ends, the Chairman, Itire-Ikate Local Council Development  Area of Lagos State, Hakeem Adisa Bamgbola, has enjoined Nigerian leaders to love one  another, the absence of which he identified as the major setback in the country.

Bamgbola gave the advice in a telephone chat with LG Circuit from Saudi Arabia, where he  went to perform the Lesser Hadjj.

According to him, leadership is a trust and all leaders will account for their actions both  in this world and beyond.

The council chief also advised Muslims to abstain from evil acts, urging them not to  jettison all they learnt during Ramadan, but instead continue to practise them after the  exercise as well as put in the culture of responsibility, discipline and self restraint at  all times.

Meanwhile, the council boss has reiterated that the provision of dividends of democracy to  the people of the area remained the bedrock of his administration.

Speaking on telephone from Saudi Arabia, Bamgbola noted that he was elected to serve the  people of the area and that since his election and assumption of office, one of his cardinal  principles had been provision of basic necessities of life for the people.

The chairman explained further that his focus was the provision of social amenities such as  water, electricity, education and primary health care delivery, saying that he has been able  to meet some of the aspirations of the people in the last one and half years of his  administration, while assuring that he will soon touch other places that are yet to be  touched within the council area in terms of development and based on available resources.

He added that apart from the various development projects that his administration had  executed in some areas, work is ongoing in other areas. He explained that rehabilitation of  roads, especially Adedoyin, Oyenuga, Alhaji Olakunle, Teniola and others, will soon take  their turn as, according to him, development cannot take place at once, considering the fact  that there are 750 roads within the council area and these have to be attended to in phases  and stages.

He urged the people of the council area to continue to support his administration and that  of Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, by paying their tax and other levies promptly.
