8 Transborder Robbers Arrested

The police in Lagos State have smashed an eight-man gang of transborder robbers.

The suspects are: Andrew Aihomogbe, 38, Kingsley Okafor, 37, Njoku Emmanuel, Martins Agbor, Chidibemu Uzigbe, Obinna Amechi, Edgal Peter and Miss Nkiru Igboatu.

They met their waterloo when the gang armed with sophisticated weapons raided some Bureau De Change operators and other innocent business men in Krake Village, Seme  Podge in Republic of Benin.

According to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Mr. Marvel Akpoyibo, “when I received a distress call I immediately ordered that all the routes leading from Benin Republic to Lagos State be sealed up to avoid a spill over of the robbery operation taking place across the border.

“I however, ordered the deployment of a combined team of operatives from the Police Mobile Force, PMF, the anti-Terrorist Squad, ATS, and the Marine Police unit to provide reinforcement and tactical back up for the police personnel from Seme and Badagry divisions.”

PMNEWS investigation further revealed that a combined team of police operatives actively supported by villagers who supplied the intelligence report gave the hoodlums a hot chase, after they had slipped into the Nigeria territory through one of the unclassified routes. The hoodlums escaped into the forest, being forced to abandon their operational vehicle, a Toyota Sequona jeep, black in colour, with registration number (Lagos) VC,01MUS. The forest was cordoned and the suspects were arrested.

Items recovered from then include: Four AK 47 rifles, 99 rounds of 7.6mm live ammunition and cash of N504,430 and another sum of over one million CFA (1,673,000CFA).
