The police in Lagos State have smashed an eight-man gang of transborder robbers.
The suspects are: Andrew Aihomogbe, 38, Kingsley Okafor, 37, Njoku Emmanuel, Martins Agbor, Chidibemu Uzigbe, Obinna Amechi, Edgal Peter and Miss Nkiru Igboatu.
They met their waterloo when the gang armed with sophisticated weapons raided some Bureau De Change operators and other innocent business men in Krake Village, Seme Podge in Republic of Benin.
According to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Mr. Marvel Akpoyibo, “when I received a distress call I immediately ordered that all the routes leading from Benin Republic to Lagos State be sealed up to avoid a spill over of the robbery operation taking place across the border.
“I however, ordered the deployment of a combined team of operatives from the Police Mobile Force, PMF, the anti-Terrorist Squad, ATS, and the Marine Police unit to provide reinforcement and tactical back up for the police personnel from Seme and Badagry divisions.â€
PMNEWS investigation further revealed that a combined team of police operatives actively supported by villagers who supplied the intelligence report gave the hoodlums a hot chase, after they had slipped into the Nigeria territory through one of the unclassified routes. The hoodlums escaped into the forest, being forced to abandon their operational vehicle, a Toyota Sequona jeep, black in colour, with registration number (Lagos) VC,01MUS. The forest was cordoned and the suspects were arrested.
Items recovered from then include: Four AK 47 rifles, 99 rounds of 7.6mm live ammunition and cash of N504,430 and another sum of over one million CFA (1,673,000CFA).

Thanks to the NPF, but no thanks cos very soon some idiots who call themselves lawyers will get some of these ruthless barbaric armed bandits free.I will suggest that in cases like this after the villagers have identified these armed gangs the police should get out and let the natural law of karma fall on these useless wasters.I am sure having lived in Seme border a couple of years back these holocaust would not find their way back to Lagos or anywhere else. Please, police should assist but allow our villagers at Seme border to clean up their land by taking care of these criminals ,that will serve as a example to other would be criminals planning the same thing to quit whatever evil they may have in mind.
Its a big lie. The robbers were all picked up by the villagers. All these long story about how the police deployed and sealled up all entry to lagos is massively inaccurate. Which police? Abeg leave am for God!
That was a brave and tactical move. The police should keep this up. Generally, I have been commending the Nigeria police. I wonder why people sit here and call police names instead of those who embezzle our monies. Those in the offices, all the ministries, parastatals including the National Assembly are the criminals and not the police. Take police off the high ways for few hours and the high ways will all become deserted. Armed robbers will take over the roads. Thanks to those villagers too – it was really a good support. Once again kudos to Police – my people!
@Jacob, you are very correct. I have been telling those who care to listen that if there is any legacy to be left for a nation, it should be an efficient police force because good policing is the major requsite for peace and harmony in any human society. The police authority should keep the flag flying and put more effort to flush out the bad eggs in their midst. The FG should also adequately equip the police and boost the morale of the men via good welfare package like free medi-care, housing, education for their children and reasonable compensation to the family of any policeman that died while performing his lawful duty since it is inevitable. The dead officers should also be remembered as heros with their names boldly written with GOLD like their military counterparts. We civilians should also emulate what those villagers did by providing useful and reliable informations to the police. Let us help the police to serve us better. They are still better than the gang of thieves (some politicians)with the key to the treasury in their hands. God bless Nigeria.
