The Super Eagles will this evening in Calabar begin the last phase of their preparation for weekend’s 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar.
The Eagles departed Abuja early today for the venue of the match in Cross River State while their opponents from Madagascar are expected in town today.
All the 23 players invited from Europe and the Nigeria Premier League have reported and have been training under the watchful eyes of stand-in Coach, Austin Eguavoen. Acting Chief Media Officer of the Nigeria Football federation, NFF, Robinson Okosun, said Dickson Etuhu of Fulham pulled out of the match against Madagascar at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar due to an ankle injury.
Some of the players available for the tie against Madagascar are: Goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, Akpan Bassey of Bayelsa United, Chelsea’s John Mikel Obi, West Brom’s Osaze Odemwingie, Chidi Odiah of CSKA Moscow and Esperance of Tunisia’s Michael Eneramo.
