Globacom Commits To African Football

Leading telecommunications company, Globacom Limited has said that its commitment to the development and promotion of African football and players informed the decision to extend the partnership with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the sponsorship of the annual Africa Football Awards event.

Globacom has been the sponsor of the prestigious awards since 2005 and the contract extension which was signed last Friday at the CAF Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt will see the company founded by business guru, Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr, holding the rights up to 2014.

Representative of Globacom and its Head of Sponsored Assets, Mrs. Modele Sarafa-Yusuf, said the company has succeeded in transforming the African Football Awards into a global event that compares favourably with similar events in other continents.

She said as a young company, Globacom has a strong passion for the youth and football hence the huge investment in the sport. According to Sarafa-Yusuf, “as you know, Globacom is a young African company and it is not a surprise that we are passionate about youths and football. The extension of this partnership is a demonstration of our willingness to do more for African football and African youths in partnership with CAF”.
