Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola (SAN) on Tuesday paid an unscheduled visit to the disused incinerator at Odaliki in Ebute Metta, saying that the government is looking at the possibility of putting the plant into more efficient use.

The governor, who spoke with journalists after a tour of the incinerating plant at Odaliki in Ebute Metta, added that the state government is looking at the possibility of how the plant can be useful in terms of waste management, recycling and using waste to generate energy.

He added that his visit is also aimed at considering the possibility of generating active power supply for the Ebute Metta locality using waste as a quick storm.

“This was one of the old incinerating plants built several years ago by the Lagos State Government. We are looking at how we can put this back to efficient use for solid waste management, recycling and sorting of waste and hopefully also, using waste to generate energy and looking at the possibility that we can be able to do captive power supply for this locality, using waste as the feedstock for the power generation,” the governor said.
