Following the controversial resignation of Mr Tamunokuro George-Obah,due to the disagreement between Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State and Mrs. Patience Jonathan at the civic reception organized for her at Okrika, by the former Chairman of Okrika Local Government Area, Hon James I. Aduko, has been sworn in as the new Chairman of the Okrika Council.

Hon James I. Aduko, who until now was the Vice Chairman of the Okrika Council.

In a charge to the new Chairman during the swearing-in ceremony today at Government House, Port Harcourt, the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi urged him to discharge his responsibilities creditably.

Governor Amaechi said “you have been sworn-in as the Chairman of Okrika Local Government Council, please you know the responsibilities of the Chairman of Council, and I want you to discharge that for the interest of the Okrika people”.

The governor remarked that the development of Okrika people should remain paramount to the new Chairman for the period he would be in office, stressing that “you should discharge your duties with diligence so that your people can appreciate you”.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the ceremony, the new Chairman of Okrika Local Government Council Hon James Aduko thanked the governor for the honour done him, promising that his first assignment would be to unite everybody in the area in order to fast track development.
