UNILORIN Students Nabbed For ExtortionNabbed

Two students of the University of Ilorin were arrested by the authority on Thursday for allegedly extorting money from pre-admission candidates being screened by the institution.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that nemesis caught up with the students, Ismaheel Hussein and Peter Olorunmola, who were supposed to be on holiday, but came back to the campus to extort money from the unsuspecting candidates.

The Director of Information of the university, Mr. Masouz Adedimeji, confirmed the arrest to NAN, saying the suspects had been assisting the police in their investigations.

Adedimeji said the suspects had made confessional statements to the security officials of the institution on their activities.

He alleged that the duo had collected about N70,000 from the innocent and desperate candidates by giving them false admission promises.

The director explained that the suspects were nabbed by the university’s security officials when they were negotiating with a student.
