Gunmen Demand N100m To Free Kidnapped Wife Of Ex-LG Boss

Kidnappers of Mrs. Soye Aroloye Brown, wife of the former Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Council of Rivers State, who was abducted in her shop located along Aker Road, Port Harcourt, have established contact with the former local government boss and are demanding N100 million as ransom.

Investigations revealed that the kidnappers also allowed Chief Aroloye Brown to speak with his wife, Soye, on phone and the woman claimed that she was being treated well by her abductors.

It is not clear yet whether the ex-local government boss will pay the amount demanded by the kidnappers to free his wife, but P.M.NEWS gathered that negotiation was going on.

At about 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday, some unidentified gunmen stormed the shop of Mrs. Soye Aroloye Brown and took her to an unknown destination.

The former council boss who contacted a Port Harcourt-based radio station through a text message said: “My wife, Soye Aroloye Brown, was kidnapped about 7.30 p.m. on 25 August, 2010, along Aker Road, Port Harcourt in her shop. They came with a Golf car with registration No.DW 61 APP (Lagos).”

Chief Aroloye Brown, a chieftain of the Peoples Democracy Party (PDP) in Port Harcourt appealed to the kidnappers to release his wife unharmed.

The state Director of State Security Service (SSS) and Dr.Rita Innoma-Abbey, the Public Relations Officer of the state police command told P.M.NEWS on phone they have swung into action on the issue.
