Former Commissioner Patrick Agbolade Sanwo Passes On

Former member of the Lagos State Executive Council and former Hon. Commissioner for Information and Culture, Chief Patrick Agbolade Sanwo, is dead. He was aged 72 years.

Chief Sanwo, an illustrious son of Lagos State, served the state in many capacities during his life time.

As commissioner for Information and Culture, Chief Sanwo set up the state broadcasting project which was later named Radio Lagos.

The conceptualization of what is now known as Lagos Television (LTV), commenced during his tenure.

He also at different times acted as the state Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Commissioner for Economic Planning and Establishment (1975) and commissioner for Health (1975 – 1979).

The late Sanwo also served as the chairman Lagos State Library Board (1980 – 1983), Chairman Lagos State Economic Planning Board (1983), was a member of the State University Governing Council and member of the Lagos State Scholarship Board among others.

According to a release from the family of the deceased, burial arrangements have been fixed for Wednesday, 8 September, 2010 through Friday 10 September, 2010.

A service of songs has been fixed for Wednesday 8 September 2010 at 17, Titiloye Street, off Kogberegbe Street, off Iyewa Street, Isolo by 5p.m. while a Commendation Service has been scheduled for Thursday, 9 September, 2010 at Chief Patrick Sanwo’s Residence, Ijebu-Ode/Epe Road, Majoda, Odo-Ayan, Epe by 10.00 a.m.

The funeral service has been slated for Friday 10 September, 2010 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Majoda Odo-Ayan, Epe, by 11:00 am prompt.
