Youth Olympics: Muideen Faces Hungarian Boxer

Nigeria’s Muideen Akanji will this evening take on Hungary’s Harcas Zoltan in the third place fight of the 75kg in the boxing event of the ongoing Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games.

Muideen lost his semi final bout by 5: 0 points to Colombia’s Carrillo Juan Carlos and he would be aiming for a bronze medal as he battles his Hungarian opponent, who also lost in the semi final to Khazastan’s Rakishev Adlet 6:1 points.

As the countdown to Nigeria’s quest of clinching a medal in the boxing event at the Youth Olympics continues, President of the Nigeria Boxing Federation, NBF, Rotimi George-Taylor, has landed in Singapore to cheer Muideen, the only amateur boxer flying Nigeria’s flag to victory.

George-Taylor, before departing for the event expressed his confidence in Muideen to win a medal for the country in the event.

According to George-Taylor, a sports administrator, who spoke to P.M.Sports from Singapore early today, “we are looking forward to tonight’s third place bout. As I speak with you, Akanji is in high spirit and ready to do the nation proud. He has also promised to give his all to the bout. He has our support because we believe he won’t let us down.”
