FG To Terminate Water Contract

The Federal Government on Monday  announced the termination of a N600million contract for the Nkisi Water Rehabilitation Scheme at Onitsha.

Water Resources Minister Obadiah Ando who announced the measure during an inspection of projects under Anambra –Imo River Basin Development Authority, observed that the performance of the contractor was shoddy.

He said that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) would soon be called in.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the contract was awarded in 2007, while N200 million of the sum had been paid by the Anambra Government as mobilisation fee.
