Landlord Weeps In Court

A landlord, Godwin Oviewhisky Okosi broke down in tears at the Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court as he stood in the dock to answer charges of assault on an estate agent, Oluwafemi Popoola.

His sobbing attracted the attention of the presiding magistrate, Mr. M.B. Folami who asked to keep quiet.

Godwin, who is the landlord of Plot 21, Ayodeji Adeife Street, Orelope Bus Stop, Egbeda, Lagos, Nigeria, was charged to court for allegedly assaulting the young man who was passing close to his residence.

Apart from that, he was also accused of stealing N30,000 from the complainant.

He was arrested by the police and charged to court for assault.

When the charge was read to him in the dock, he denied it and started crying.

The magistrate granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety and also released him on self recognition.

He was ordered to come to the court everyday, pending when his bail will be perfected.

The matter has been adjourned till 1 September, 2010 for hearing.
