Ex-Council Manager Joins Political Race

The immediate past Council Manager (CM), Agege Local Government, Lagos State, Nigeria, Prince Kabir Ademola Bello-Aromire has joined the increasing list of aspirants into political offices in 2011.

Political Train gathered that the aspirant, who retired on 25 June, 2010 after 19 years in the Lagos State Local Government Service is gunning for a seat in the House of Representatives from Lagos Island.

An insider revealed that Prince Aromire has the solid backing of his wife, Mrs. Caroline Adaize Bello-Aromire, who also retired in April 2010 as the Permanent Secretary (PS), Lagos State Ministry of Home Affairs and Culture after 35 years in service.

Popularly known as Oya to (unique) or Omo Eko Pataki, Prince Bello-Aromire who hails from the Aromire royal family, Enu-Owa, Lagos, announced his aspiration to his people on the Island at an elaborate rally.

The 60-year old career officer turned politician who started his working career at the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) in 1972 and moved to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in 1978 before joining the civil service in 1991 had served at Lagos Island, Ifako-Ijaiye, Kosofe, Apapa, Agboyi-Ketu and Agege local governments.

Bello-Aromire is said to be eyeing the Lagos Island Federal Constituency 1 seat presently being occupied by Mrs. Jumoke Okoya-Thomas.
