SS3 Dropout Confesses To Theft In Court

A Senior Secondary School dropout, Joseph Adams, 23, has admitted stealing an Accura Legend Honda car before the Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, Nigeria.

The accused confessed before the court presided by Mrs. S.O. Solebo, that one of his friends, identified as Stephen, now at large planned the theft.

He said they succeeded in stealing the car at a car wash centre at Lanre Bus Stop, Igando, outskirts of Lagos, but was arrested at Iju area by the police when he was taking the car out for sale.

He was arraigned on a two-count charge of stealing an unregistered car belonging to Alhaji Raheem Salam.

He pleaded guilty to the charge and the police prosecutor, Kunle Shonibare, urged the court to sentence him accordingly.

The matter has been adjourned till 8 September, 2010 for sentencing while the defendant was ordered to be remanded at the Kirikiri Maximum Security Prison, Apapa, Lagos, Nigeria.
