Lagosians have applauded the concessioning of the Lekki-Epe Expressway by the Babatunde Raji Fashola-led state government.

Speaking on the development, the Secretary of the South-West National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Eniola Opeyemi said the concessioning will bring about rapid development in the area.

“It is a laudable initiative that should be embraced by all,” he stated.

“As a representative of NANS, I see this project as a national development and should be seen from such perspective. This goes beyond inter-party politics and those that are antagoning it should have a rethink,” he added.

Ayodele Badmos, a Nollywood actor, said kudos must be given to the Lagos State government for bringing development closer to the people through the concessioning of the Lekki-Epe Expressway, adding that it is a development that all Lagosians should be proud of.

He described the project as another initiative of the Fashola administration that should be supported by Lagosians.

Secretary of Coalition of Oodua Self Determination Groups (COSEG), Rasak Olokooba, said: ”The buzz the concessioning was generating was because modern development and good governance were alien to us in this part of the world. All over the world, countries are going into concessioning and Lagos State cannot be exempted. The concessioning arrangment is a good initiative as it will enhance growth and development in Lagos State.

“We see those calling for the cancellation as enemies of the state. They refused to speak while the Federal Government concessioned the Nigeria Port Authority, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and Murtala Muhammed Airport to Bi-Courtney,” he said.
