Yaba Council Commissions New Primary Health Centre

The Chairman of Yaba Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, South West Nigeria, Mr. Olajide Jimoh, has restated his administration’s commitment to bring health delivery service closer to the people.

He made the disclosure yesterday during the commissioning of Ayetoro Primary Health Centre, Makoko.

Jimoh explained that the health centre, although built by the council, would be jointly managed by an international non government organisation, Medicins Sans Frontieres, based in Spain.

The council chairman said that the drugs and health personnel that would work in the health centre would be provided by the NGO.

Jimoh urged the residents of the area to ensure security of all equipment in the health centre.

Earlier, the head of Medicins Sans Frontieres, Dr. Bath Davis, said the organisation was in partnership with the council as part of its humanitarian commitment by providing free medicare to people in distressed areas.

Seven medical doctors and 13 nurses were provided by the NGO to work in the health centre.
