For allegedly macheting her colleague, a salesgirl, Janet Erese, 25 has been arraigned before the Isolo Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, Nigeria for assault.
Janet was alleged to have attacked the complainant, Nkem Chukweze, while asleep because she accused her of stealing an unspecified amount of money from their shop at Ladipo Market, Abuja.
She was arrested and charged with assault occassioning harm, an offence punishable under Section 355 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 38, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2004.
The magistrate, Mrs. F.O. Aigbokhaevbo, refused to grant her bail, explaining that she can only consider bail for her during trial.
The matter has been adjourned till 30 September, 2010 for trial.
