Residents of Aka in Iba Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, have called on the state government to urgently look into the blocked canal running from Ojo Alaba to Igbede, linking Olopo Meji and Ajangbadi axis of the area before the whole community is submerged with flood, especially any time it rains.
Speaking on behalf of the residents, the traditional ruler, Chief Ramoni Adeyemi Badru, said although the community has benefited immensely from the Fashola-led administration in the state through provision of mini water works, street light, rehabilitation of Okoko-Aka-Ajangbadi road and establishment of a secondary school, residents always find it very difficult to get to their places of abode whenever it rains and therefore called for the urgent clearance of the canal.
Badru also wants the government to provide pipe borne water in the area, while appealing to the chairman of Iba council, Toyin Suarau, to assist the community by completing the town hall project and reconstruction of the market and provide other basic social amenities. He, however, pledge the support of his subjects for the chairman at all times.
