Authorities of Guaranty Trust Bank has threatened legal action against one of its customers, Mr. Clement Aviomoh Maku, for failing to repay the loan granted him by the bank on 21 December, 2007.
In a letter sent to the General Manager, Human Resources/Company Secretary of African Petroleum (the company where Aviomoh was working when he collected the loan), the bank claimed that Mr. Aviomoh was availed of the sum of N125,000,000.
“As part of conditions precedent to accessing the loan, Mr. Aviomoh executed a time loan agreement consenting to the domiciliation of his monthly salary and terminal benefits as collateral for the facility.
“Please, note that Mr. Aviomoh has failed to keep to the repayment terms as agreed in above mentioned agreement and has subsequently defaulted in meeting his obligations. He is currently indebted to the bank to the tune of N148,997,103.30,†the bank stated in its letter.
The letter, which was signed by the GTB’s Institutional Banking Division Officers, Wole Arobieke and Ijeoma Esemudje, claimed further that several demand letters have been delivered to Aviomoh’s office and home without any result.
“Consequently upon this, we hereby request that his final emoluments be transferred to his Guaranty Trust Bank account number 218/818721/110 or a crossed cheque written in favour of Clement Aviomoh /Guaranty Trust Bank PLC to assist with liquidating his current outstanding debt,†the letter reads.
