Fleeing Robbers Abandon Car

Robbers who attacked residents of 20, Okuneye Street, Mende, Maryland, Lagos, South West Nigeria recently, were forced to abandon the Honda Accord car marked GX LAGOS 507 EKY, which they allegedly snatched from its owner in an earlier operation.

Crime Watch learnt that the robbers arrived the scene at about 10.50 p.m. and started shooting sporadically while robbing their victims and when information got to the Anthony Police Station of the robbers’ attack, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the station immediately sent his men to the scene.

Sighting the police, the robbers reportedly opened fire on them and during the gun battle which lasted for some minutes, the robbers managed to escape and abandoned the Honda car, one locally made double barrel gun and 17 live cartridges.

In a similar development, detectives from Lagos State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, acting on a tip off, arrested one Tosin Oyetakin of 35, Ireti Owoseni Street, Ijora, Lagos.

The police, who were acting on information from members of the public, arrested the suspect at 59, Kirikiri Road, Olodi-Apapa and recovered one locally made pistol and one live cartridge from him.

During interrogation, he confessed that he and another accomplices now at large, robbed a victim of one laptop computer and N5,050.
