Court Stops Archbishop’s Installation

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos State, South West Nigeria, has stopped the installation of Archbishop Stanley Nyekpeye as the Primate of The First African Church Mission Incorporation.

The presiding judge, Justice Okechukwu J. Okeke, restrained Archbishop Nyekpeye from presenting himself to be enthroned as the Primate of the church in a ceremony slated for tomorrow at Jehovah Shalom Cathedral, 9, Phonix lane, Victoria Island, Lagos or any other date or place.

Justice Okeke who gave the order on Wednesday said the order remained in force pending the hearing and determination of the motion for injunction.

The plaintiffs in the substantive suit number FHC/L/CS/648/2010 are the board of Registered Trustees of The First African Church Mission Incorporation and Most Rev. Olabode Koya, the Primate of The First African Church Mission Incorporation.

Archibishop Nyekpeye, Mr. Sola Aina, Engr. Sola Taylor, Chief Olayinka Williamson Taiwo, Dr. Olatunde Awofeso and Dr. Yesufu Obaze Iyashere are the defendants in the suit.
