Shomolu Hosts AC's Lagos East Forum

The Lagos East Senatorial District, comprising Kosofe, Shomolu, Ibeju-Lekki, Epe and Ikorodu, were recently hosted by the Shomolu axis during a programme to prepare for the 2010 general elections.

Speaking with P.M.NEWS at the event which took place at Lagoon Hotel, Bariga, an Action Congress member and prominent youth leader in the area, Hon. Bowale Sosinmi, stated that they are meeting to educate and inform members of AC towards the January 2011 general election.

“Our national convention is taking place in Lagos on 9 August, 2010, while membership registration is to commence from 7 August to 14 September; Wards congresses on 14 September and LGA 18 September, 2010. Also, there will be another National Convention in Benin City on 25 September, and the general purpose of today’s meeting is to prepare our great party for landslide victory in the 2011 general elections,” he stated.

Also speaking at the event, the Secretary to the Lagos State Government, SSG, Mrs. Adeniran Ogunsanya, said the meeting was an avenue for the senatorial district to disseminate information and prepare members towards the coming elections. She said since the senatorial district comprises of five local government areas of the state, it is pertinent to hold a common meeting from time to time to discuss the agenda of the party. Asked if the party is changing its name, she said “as of today, the party is still Action Congress, but I know that some talks are going on.”
