Thieves On Okada Snatch Warder's Uniform

Two men, Adigwe Peter, 21 and Segun Akinde, 23 who are specialists in using commercial motorcycles to steal from commuters along Igando-LASU road in Alimosho, Lagos, Nigeria have been arrested and arraigned before the court.

They were arrested after snatching a nylon bag containing the uniform of a traffic warden, thinking that it contained money.

The defendants were alleged to have used a Bajaj motorcycle with registration number QZ 818 LSD to snatch a black bag belonging to Mrs. Regina Oghogho who was going home after work.

Unfortunately for the accused, a team of policemen on patrol from Igando station saw them and arrested them.

They were charged with stealing uniform at the Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court, an offence punishable under Section 390 of the Criminal Code.

They pleaded not guilty to the charge and were granted bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety.

The magistrate ordered their detention in prison when they could not meet the conditions attached to the bail.

The matter has been adjourned till 11 August, 2010.
