The coalition of ethnic nationalities has appealed to the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), not to disrupt development going on in the state.
The coalition disclosed this in their communique issued at the end of a meeting held at the International Press Centre (IPC), Ogba, Lagos.
The groups stated that they were disturbed by the activities of PDP agents and their leaders who are instigating the people of Lekki-Epe and its environs against the Lagos State Government on the concession of the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
According to them, prominent PDP leaders in the area who are bent on disrupting the peace and development process in Lagos State are doing so because of the forthcoming 2011 general elections.
“The concessioning arrangement is a good private sector- government initiative. We believe that government cannot do it alone. The concessioning will enhance growth and fast development in Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.
“We see those calling for the cancellation of the Lekki-Epe concessioning as enemies of the people of Lagos, because such persons refused to speak while the PDP-led federal government concessioned the ever-busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to Bi-courtney for twenty-five years. We believe that the present option is the best in this circumstance,” the groups stated.
The groups also appealed to Lagosians not to fall prey to the antics of the PDP because the party does not have the genuine interest of Lagosians at heart. ”They should be ignored at the forthcoming election,” they added.
“We view the unguarded utterances of the PDP leaders as capable of heating up the polity and disrupting the landmark development strides of the present administration of Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) in turning Lagos to a mega city.
“We make bold to say that no right thinking Lagosian will claim not to see the giant strides of the present administration in the state, especially in the area of infrastructural development,” it stated.
The coalition enjoined Governor Fashola not to be deterred, disturbed or distracted by the activities of those elements who have lost touch with modern day reality across the globe.
