Former Falconets player, Blessing Akusobi, has tipped Nigeria to reach the final of this year’s FIFA U-20 Women World Cup in Germany.

Nigeria will battle Colombia tomorrow in the second semi final match at the Bielefeld city. Akusobi believes the Nigerian ladies, with their performance so far in the ongoing world championship, will defeat the Colombians. She predicted that the encounter will not be tough as the previous matches.

“I am quite impressed with the team’s performance in the previous matches. They have come a long way and I don’t think they will lose to Colombia in their semi final game,” said Akusobi, who is still nursing her ligament injury which stopped her from playing football.

She admitted that Colombia are equally a good side like Nigeria but believes the Falconets are technically better.

“I believe our team won’t underrate Colombia just because they defeated the defending champions, USA in the quarter final on Sunday. Football cannot be predicted at times, so our team should not be complacent but go all out to do what they did in their match against the Americans,” said,  Akusobi, who played for the Falconets in the 2006 FIFA U-20 Women World Cup held in Russia.

Akusobi also tipped Germany, the hosts to pick the final ticket when they clash against Korea Republic in the first semi final match tomorrow in Bochum. She  added that the Germans are a balanced team just like Nigeria.
