Africa U-19 Cricket Tourney: Nigeria Battle Rwanda Today

Nigeria’s U-19 team will today battle Rwanda in their second game of the Cricket World Cup qualifier Africa’s Division 2.

The Sean Phillips-tutored side will be out to consolidate their position on the table by targeting victory over the Rwandans after they defeated Gambia by 10 wickets in their first match yesterday.

The match played at the U-Tech pitch in Swaziland had the Gambians batting first and putting up 111 runs in 41 overs from the tight Nigerian bowling.  Lamin 18 and Ismail 19 were the top scorers for the Gambians.

Nigeria’s successful bowlers during the match were Chukwu James, who accounted for 3 wickets for 28 runs in his 10 overs and Dayo Ogunbayo, who took 3 wickets for 25 runs in 6 overs. In response, the Nigerian opening pair of Olumide Adeniran (54 runs not out) and Joshua Ayannaike (41 runs not out) made short work of the Gambian bowling, earning the victory in 13 overs.

In today’s second match, Gambia will take on Mozambique in a make or mar match having lost their first match.
