Former Super Eagles’ goalkeeper trainer, Joe Erico, has warned the Falconets not to lose focus when they confront Colombia in the semi final of the ongoing FIFA U-20 Women World Cup in Germany.
The Falconets, who upset the defending champions, USA in the quarter final match played yesterday, will meet the South American ladies on Thursday at the city of Bielefeld. Erico, who congratulated the Falconets for the victory against USA, said the semi final will not be easy, hence the need for the Nigerian ladies to remain focused to scale the hurdles of the Colombians.
“I am impressed with the performance of the team against USA.The Nigerian ladies showed doggedness and determination in that match. Their game against Colombia will be another cracker, which I believe if Nigerian players remain focused, they can go all the way to the final,†he said.
Erico agreed that the Falconets played better in their previous matches, adding there is still room for the team to improve if they want to play in the final.
“For now, the team are playing good football. We are proud of them. They should remain focused and approach their next game with seriousness,†he said.
