Nigeria U-19 Cricket Team Hit South Africa

The Nigerian Under 19 Cricket team who will take part in the Cricket World Cup Qualifier, (CWCQ) Africa Division 2 tournament billed for Swaziland from 26-30 July, 2010, arrived in South Africa early Wednesday.

Immediately they hit South Africa, they began the last lap of their  preparation for the qualifiers.

The delegation led by the Nigerian Cricket Federation, (NCF)’s board member and Technical Director, Okon Ukpong, has 14 players and three officials on the trip.

The team members are Abiodun Abioye(Captain), Chukwu James (Vice Captain), Olumide Adeniran, Varun Behani, Rotimi Adesanya, Tobi Majaro, Seun Adeboro, Sola Anyia, Benjamin Anyia, Dayo Ogunbayo, Joshua Ayannaike, Usman Adebiyi, Segun Ilori and Toyshik Shukla.

The team are coached by South African-born, Sean Phillips. The  Secretary-General of NCF, Patrick Okeke, is also part of the delegation, which will travel to Swaziland by road in a luxury coach on Sunday, a day before the commencement of the qualifiers.

The qualifiers begins on Monday, 26 July, with Gambia, Mozambique, Rwanda joining Nigeria and the host, Swaziland fighting for the ticket for the main championship.

Nigeria will open their campaign on Monday against Gambia, take on Rwanda the next day after which they will play Mozambique before confronting the hosts, Swaziland in their last match.
