Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State, Nigeria has concluded arrangements to establish a mini gas plant in the area, in conjuction with Gasoline and Automotive Products Company.

This was announced by the Chairman of the council, Prince Bisi Yusuf, at a forum organised to sensitise people in the community on cooking gas usage.

He revealed that the mini gas plant which will be located on an acre of land in Ayobo town would provide jobs for youths and others in the area and eradicate scarcity of charcoal and kerosene.

“The proposed gas project is to show that it’s not only in advanced countries that such feats could be achieved, but also in suburban areas like Ayobo-Ipaja.

“If Dubai can attain its current popular status in just nine years, Nigeria which is full of milk and honey, endowed with natural raw materials can do better in a few years. But our problem is that of good leadership, that has remained our bane,” the council chairman stated.

Prince Yusuf was also of the view that most projects failed in Nigeria because those charged with their implementation do not take beneficiaries of such projects into consideration.

Giving reasons for the partnership with the local council to establish the mini gas plant, the Chief Executive Officer of Gasoline and Automotive Products Marketing Company Limited (GAPM), Mr. Taiwo Fagbemi, said it was aimed at promoting entrepreneurship.

He said he was meeting with members of Ayobo-Ipaja Community Development Committee (CDC) to demonstrate the values of the project to them, so that they can in turn enlighten their children about it.
