The Federal Government has been charged to wage a relentless war against the raging wave of kidnapping in the country and bring perpetrators to book.

National Chairman, Christian National Vanguard, CNV, Archbishop Magnus Atilade gave this charge yesterday at the headquarters of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Lagos Council Secretariat, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria.

Atilade condemned the kidnapping of four journalists in Abia State, describing it as inhuman and criminal.

“We urge the Federal Government to wage a relentless war against the nefarious activities of kidnappers. The State Security Service, SSS, the army and the police should be mobilised to wage war against kidnappers.

According to him, community leaders and the local police should be held accountable for cases of kidnapping in their domains, adding that some of them connive with hoodlums to kidnap innocent people.

”When citizens give information on the whereabouts of kidnappers, such citizens should be protected and the information kept secret,” he stated.

Atilade also called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on the criminal abduction of citizens.
