Pioneer Super Falcons’ Coach, Paul Hamilton has warned the Falconets to step up their game if they want to win their match against Japan in the second group match tomorrow in the ongoing FIFA U-20 Women World Cup in Germany.

Hamilton commended the Nigerian ladies for their brilliant performance against England in their opening group game on Wednesday

Despite putting up a good showing against the English ladies, Hamilton said the Nigerian side need to increase their tempo if they want to go far in the tournament.

“Based on the report I read, it was obvious that the Falconets did not let the nation down. I believe that their next match against Japan will be a different ball game,” he said.

Hamilton, who was fondly called ‘Wonder Boy’ by his admirers during his playing days, said that Japan are equally a good side, but Falconets must avoid defeat in tomorrow’s match if they want to progress to the next stage of the tourney.

He said it will be a serious setback if Falconets lose tomorrow’s game, adding that only victory will brighten their chance to progress to the quarter final stage.

“My prayer is that the Falconets should win their remaining matches and try to utilise their chances. They have what it takes to go far in the tournament if they put their acts together,” said Hamilton, who took the Super Falcons to the maiden FIFA Women World Cup in China in 1991.
