The Lagos State Government on Tuesday at a Lagos High Court amended its charges against FBN Capital Nigeria Ltd over the unlawful dismissal of a person living with AIDS/HIV.

Lagos State had alleged in a two-count charge that the firm forced the employee, Mrs. Bukola Adesetan, to undergo an AIDS/HIV test and sacked her after testing positive.

The action of the firm, it held, contravened Section 10 (6) of the Protection of Persons Living with HIV and AIDS Law No. 17, Laws of Lagos State 2007.

Joined in the suit is an official of the firm, Bayo Adeleke.

The government also wants the court to declare the termination of Adesetan’s appointment in April 2008 as null and void.

At the resumed hearing of the matter on Tuesday, Counsel to the Lagos State Government, Mr. Femi Adamson, had informed the court that he intended to withdraw the earlier charge and substitute it with a fresh one.
